Should Christians wish the Muslims a prosperous or blessed Ramadan?

Dear Friends,
I am writing this in response to quite a few (and a few too many) posts I have seen on Facebook. These were posted by people who are convinced that they are Christians. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am in no way saying or implying that these friends are not Christians. What I am saying is that if they are Christians, they are either ignorant of the facts, or very much mislead.
I am talking about the posts saying something like: “To all my Muslim friends/family: Ramadan Kareem,” or even “Ramadan Mubarak” The meaning of these two phrases are Prosperous Ramadan, and Blessed Ramadan.
Why do I say it is inappropriate for a Christian to use these phrases? The answer lies in the meaning of the word Ramadan, in other words, what the feast of Ramadan is about.
Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to COMMEMORATE THE FIRST REVELATION OF THE QURAN TO MUHAMMAD according to Islamic belief.
As Christians, we cannot wish people well during a festival dedicated to another god.
2 Corinthians 6:17 ESV “Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you…”
Furthermore, we know that there are only two ruling powers in the universe, God the Almighty, and Satan, the Adversary. The god worshipped by the Muslims is NOT the God we serve and worship, therefore by default, they worship Satan. How then can we in good conscience bless them and the blasphemous festival that they celebrate?
So please, do not wish anyone Ramadan Kareem or Ramadan Mubarak! Be discerning of the word of God!
